The HP3000 sold itself, fortunately for HP and for us. In over 20
years I have never met a sales representative from HP that knew
why an HP3000 was so highly regarded by those that were
fortunate enough to work on them or recognized the unique value
that the presence of Image in the FOS gave to the product. They
frequently knew so little about the machine that they were trying to
sell that on several occasions I felt embarrassed for HP by their
evident lack of knowledge.

If you want to sell an HP3000 simply go in to a CIO and ask how
many people does he have supporting his servers full time. Add up
their salaries, divide by the number of employees, subtract the
result from the initial sum, and give that answer as the anualized
savings in labour alone. It is that pathetically simple. If they want
to spend more then that is their affair but they won't need to; and
that is the advantage of the HP3000 over all other computers.

Regards,
Jim
