Understood. I have specific file equations in the job:
FILE DLT1;DEV=51
FILE DLT2;DEV=52
STORE
@[log in to unmask]@;;SHOW;DIRECTORY;PARTIALDB;ONLINE=START;PROGRESS;STORESET=(*DLT1),(*DLT
2);MAXTAPEBUF;COMPRESS
Still, it asks for a reply... someone responded and said that I could use
DOIONOW to effect the changes without a system reboot, but I am hearing
differently from a number of other folks.
So, what's the story? To reboot, or not to reboot, that is the question...?

Eben,
If both tape drives belong to the same device class and you reference the
device class, say "TAPE", the system will not know which ldev to use and you
will get the tape request message. If your file equate says:
FILE T;dev=7 or such the system will know you want ldev 7 and you will not
get prompted.
