Unfortunately, you will probably have to restore the one big file from tape
to disk and then restore from the STD file to your target.
So, RESTORE *T;FULLB.VTAPE.BACK;OLDDATE;SHOW
Then :FILE MYDISC=FULLB.VTAPE.BACKUP;DEV=DISK
Followed by RESTORE *MYDISC;AGING.EFACE.JOBSCOPE;SHOW;OLDDATE
Is there a reason why you do an STD and then store this STD to tape? Why
not go directly to tape, unless you are backing up to a papertape drive?

Subject: [HP3000-L] How to restore a single file from 1 large file that
contains the full backup
Can anyone tell me how I can restore a single file
from an MPE (6.0) Store step that backs up all files
to DISC to a single file?
I need to restore 1 file called AGING.EFACE.JOBSCOPE
from a tape backup that contains 1 SINGLE file that
has the full backup in it.
There are 2 steps:
1. A JCL script backs up all files on the HP3000 to a
single file on disc called: FULLB.VTAPE.BACKUP
2. Then a JCL step later stores this single file from
disc to tape.
Thank you for your consideration.
