Just a little clarification for the record.

Our application vendor is not Oracle. I did not intend to imply anything
about Oracle, the company or the database itself. Our Oracle dB is on
HP-UX. Actually, once we got it up and running, the Oracle database has
been very stable. Our Unix and Oracle production database nicely survived
and recovered with no loss of data from a hard crash due to a processor
failure on our K570 (If anybody wants details, Jeff K can fill you in).
This system had been up from, I think, April, until it crashed a couple of
weeks ago - just as good a record as our MPE system. The Oracle database
is restarted weekly, mostly to get a cold backup. My biggest complaint
about Oracle database is the utter complexity of all the options and
possibilities. One had better know what one is doing if one is going to
run a business on one.

We considered and would have preferred the 3000 as our Oracle platform,
but our application vendor no longer supported it and there were so many
other issues that we didn't want to have deal with non-support. Also, at
the time of the decision, we were also still running MPE on a 960! Today
we have a 969.

Alfredo, thanks for another cube and I agree wholeheartedly that Vince
deserves one (let's all hope it doesn't get him in trouble at Oracle).
