I have no doubt that those that abuse the OT functions will simply follow.  They have all the capability in the world to be able to email-argue amongst themselves now (regardless of an OT or on-topic post).  I have seen, time and again, two members of the list spar back and forth...directing their attacks at each other in the body of the emails that they send back and forth...and at that point, these folks need to take it offline (send each other your arguments).

I think that OT posts are not the problem, rather it's a lack of professionalism, and at the very least, a lack of common courtesy that allows any post to degenerate into a war of words that only a select (and repeated) few members wish to participate in.
