This is absolutely unbelievable. I am saddened at the news, and like all of you,
my heartfelt condolences to his family. But then, we are all part of his family,
in a way, yes?

I met Wirt at HPWorld 2000, and he was extremely erudite and entertaining,
but more than that (and this surprised me), he was genuinely warm and cared
about what was going on with the people in our little corner of computerdom.

I still have a copy of this post ( http://raven.utc.edu/cgi-bin/WA.EXE?
A2=HP3000-L;jeGKSg;19970609003426-0400B ) hanging on my wall, which I
share with people from time to time. Nobody could tell a story like Wirt. :-)

My goodness, I better send this before I can't see well enough to keep typing.
