I regularly see over three:one compression (software) on a @[log in to unmask]@ (/) store
using DDS-3 (not that that matters with Software compression).

I think MPE data compresses pretty well.

I note a "*" after "40GB" below, and no referential comment -- I'm
presuming, then, that this indicates it is really only a TWENTY GB tape
drive and, like everyone else in the (PC) business, they are claiming the
40GB "with 2:1 compression" -- how often (with binary files) does one REALLY
see 2:1?  Normally, I see 1.1:1 at best...
