Some time ago, I asked if anyone on the List had used/heard of Samba, a
freeware SMB server/client that has been ported to multiple UNIX based
systems.

We use it at one of my clients to "share" HP9000 disk space and printers
seamlessly to a wfwg/win95/NT network. It really works well, and allows
connections to directories and printers on the HP9000 without any NFS or
other client software on the clients - no permanent connections,
supports UNC, disk mapping, just like wfwg/win95/NT.

I would really like to have the Samba server running on the Posix side
of the HP3000. I believe that this would make the HP3000 the most
robust, productive and useful server around (provided the Samba port
didn't introduce instability :)).

Anyone with any information about the possibilities?
