Hi all,

when trying to edit a file on the 3000 using Samba and
Windows Write we noticed that FILE SAVE fails with some
error message. Saving on PC and moving to the 3000 with
drag and drop from File Manager works fine, though.

The reason seems to be (my current status of invest) that
Write tries to create some auxiliary file ~WRIxxxx.TMP in
the destination directory and the tilde (tilda?) is not
quite a valid filename on MPE/iX...

What are valid filename characters on DOS, Windows, NT,
etc? Looks like the SMBD server would need to perform some
kind of mapping to avoid invalid characters on MPE...

Thanks in advance, Lars.
