That sounds like a *dangerous* option, which could overwrite a file
previously stored. I prefer the old-fashioned method, looking at the drive.
If the tape is offline, there must be a valid reason for it, like you
finished storing files on the tape. I can't think of too many reasons (I'm
sure a few exist) why I would want to re-load a tape without
write-protecting it first.

Although I appreciate the comment, I'll point out that it
simply puts the tape back online ... it doesn't tell you
if there is a tape in the drive!
If there is no tape in the drive, then it will generally
hang until a tape is inserted.
If you want it anyway, get it free from www.allegro.com/software/
and look for "ONLINE".
