Any user with SM capability would be able to open any file in any account, however the Image database files are Priv files, and they can not be opened by the average program. A program that wants to open a priv file must be running in priv mode, Ea:

getprivmode
fopen
getusermode

Using Query or any program that calls the proper DBOPEN routine will require the Image DB password, no matter what capability you have, with the exception of the database creator( like MGR.MYACCT) who only needs to use ; as a password. In the normal scheme of things on MPE the creator should require passwords at login time, but any user with SM capability can get the creators password and therefore login as the creator and use ; to access the database.

Hi all.
I am going thru an audit. (Oh yeah!)
Can an SM user update a DB in another account? I am thinking maybe they
could but would require a DB password.
Thanks.
Ray
