Hi,
 
I'm unfamiliar with Quick...but...what if you mark the key as "NODUP"
in the KSAM file?  Then, KSAM will reject attempts to add a duplicate
key, with File System error # 171:
   DUPLICATE KEY VALUE  (FSERR 171)
