We work with a local school district, and the following "kit" was sent home
with the sixth graders who are just starting middle school. They get a
half-year course called TIMS - Transition In Middle School... and they get
this upon leaving the class.

Thought it might make some of us stop and think - it did me:

The kit contains:
- A Hershey's Hug Candy: To remind you that everyone needs a hug every day.
- A Paper Clip: To remind you to stay organized
- A Rubber Band: To remind you to be flexible throughout the year
- A Band-Aid: TO remind you to patch up broken relationships
- An Eraser: To remind you that everyone makes mistakes - and that it's
okay.
- A Life Savers Candy (If you're not in the US/Canada, you may not know
about these, they are a circular candy with a hole - a life saver) - To
remind you to seek out a lifesaver such as you parents, counselors, etc. (or
your boss, a coworker that you can confide in, etc,)
- A Caramel: To remind you to stick up for your friends (and coworkers?)
and to be an ally to someone in need.
- A Calendar: To remind you to plan ahead
- A Mint: To remind you that you are worth a mint!
- A Bag: To help you keep it all together.

Thinking about it - one can apply quite a bit of these to the work
environment.

Oh well - time to call for the Friday Pizza :)

Cheers,
Joe
