Admittedly I have been a Quad geek for about 16 years now. In the last 5
years I have been using UltraEdit and have been introduced to other
editors, but I have found nothing as powerful as Quad for mass edits.

I totally agree that as a line/page editor it can be archaic, but as a
command line editor, I have found nothing as powerful (especially if you
consider the price). To be able to match patterns and take action on
that I found most impressive.

I haven't found another editor other then Qedit that offers commands
like Quad's WHITEN, MOD, INCLUDE and EXCLUDE. Granted, these aren't the
feature you need for writing code, but they are invaluable for altering
an entire file to your needs. I'm starting to use sed and awk to match
what Quad offered native and dare I say less cryptic.

Just my opinion.

Some months back I was introduced to UltraEdit on the PC. It is the
very best way to edit HP3000 files, in my humble opinion, of course.

Subject: [HP3000-L] QUAD

After having worked with QUAD for so many years, yesterday I went back
to using it (for one day.)

Having been a big fan (and user) of Programmer Studio for the past 2 or
more years I was absolutely horrified at how archaic Quad truly is.

This morning I went back to using my beloved Programmer Studio and now
would certainly use nothing else for editing files on my HP3000......
