What "status codes" do you need? If you want the vendor IDs, ODE/MAPPER will
show you the first 8 characters of the drives it finds (which doesn't seem
to always correspond 1:1 to the drives attached to the system). An
alternative would be to attach the drives to a PC and watch the SCSI
adapter's boot-up messages.
