<lots of technical stuff that I snipped>
Thanks Wirt for the great reply, but I never did understand
3-phase power!
Anyway, what I am trying to do is power the system console
from the UPS, so when the line power goes down, I can bring
the system down in an orderly fashion, which is what the
UPS is supposed to allow me to do, right? It's going to be
kind of tough to shut the system down without a console,
don't you think?
The manual says that "These PowerTrust units (A2996A, A2997A) are
auto-ranging; that is, they configure themselves to the voltage
and frequency of the wall outlet power." and indicates that *all*
the outlets are the back of the UPS provide the same type of
power (voltage and frequency). So I guess that the UPS is
working as described, except that the it's going to be practically
useless from the standpoint of being able to perform an orderly
shutdown in the case of an extended power outage.
