Dear Samba testers,
I have found some time to try out samba. I loaded the stuff on my HP 3000
following the instructions. I fought with vi to make sure my IP address
was set in the smbd.conf and then I streamed the job. It stays up and
seems to be waiting for something. Now, on my Windows 95, I issued a
net view \\alpha and consistently get error 54:
net view \\alpha
(wait for a while, there is some activity on the HP 3000 at that point.)
Error 54: The network is currently busy processing other requests
or is out of resources. Try again later, or verify your network
configuration to be sure that enough network resources are specified.
On NT, the command gets:
System error 121 has occurred.
The semaphore timeout period has expired.
I added (in vain it seems) the line
smbd tcp/139
to the services.net.sys file.
I really would like to make this work and do more testing. I have high
hopes for this stuff.
Kind regards,
Denys. . .
