Is this 2 3000's (a local and remote)?

Could you perhaps have a canned job on the remote and use ftp site
stream on the local system to initiate the job on the remote?

Does your dialogue need to provide feedback from the remote to the local
regarding success or failure of commands? (there are ways to do this via
DSLINE and command files)
