A year-long scenario (called EMPIRE5) of the largest
configuration possible of this game on the HPe3000 is
finally over. A NEW game was configured with the following
defaults:

Maximum number of players (Default=255)? 255
Number of islands (Default=255)?
World size X,Y (Default=999,999)?
Minutes per time unit (Default=100.80)?
Maximum number of players per user (Default=255)?
Starting time units (Default=0)?
Maximum number of ships allowed (Default=9999)?
Ship day length (Default=14.29)?
Game start date (m/d/y) (Default=Today)?
Game starting time (Default=11:41)?
Game end date (Default=5200.00)?

(100.8 minutes per turn multiplied by 5200 time
units gives about a year long game.)

High scores were posted for the prior game of EMPIRE5 on the web site
(http://198.190.228.6/) on the High Scores link. The winner for 2
August
was a Player called "MOUNTAINIA" whom we all suspect is one "Ben
Norton",
who is the original programmer of this game from the 1970s.

The games is free. All you need to do is Telnet to the same IP
address as the web site and log on. User IDs are pre-established
as per the web site.
