Morse code experts may wish to advocate that the younger generation stick to
the convention of separating the letters coded in your message.   Consider
that a single dit is an E, two dits an I, etc, now quickly realize that if
McBride had really sent "...---..." he would have got back ".... ..- ....
..--..".
