HP can certainly add the capability in an MPE-standard way without the input
of the user community. If they want that input, however, they should do it
in a way that will accurately reflect the opinions of that community. The
conclusions represented in Sashi's message this morning were flawed, it
seems. Simply counting posts to the list is not an effective method. Since
this capability is unlikely to be delivered until a powerpatch or two hence,
I doubt that the delay in conducting a ballot would cause a noticeable delay
in delivery. If the Interex ballot idea is too slow, perhaps an informal
e-mail ballot would be a good alternative.
