That is another story.  RTE was my third (I think) HP-invented OS.

I began with the HP 9830 "calculator" (which was an amazing desktop
computer that you programmed in BASIC).  I then used DOS-III and then
RTE.  In fact, when I saw my first HP3000 in Cupertino in 1973 or so,
I thought its performance was quite inferior compared to RTE.  The
HP3000 folks have certainly come a long way since then.

Perhaps I should have written, "MPE is the ONLY *PutYourFavoriteQualifier*
operating system that was invented at HP".

I guess I have more faith in HP management than Gavin does.

I can't wait to see HP's answers...
