That's easy. I think I can make a few suggestions for both the 9000 and the
e3000

E3000 :

Weakness : runs MPE, so-called "proprietary" OS. Does not get sufficient
attention from its parent company. No enough applications run on it.

Strength : runs MPE, the most stable environment you may think of running on
minis. Well big minis indeed. We're talking about boxes able tu run about
12,000 processes concurrently. Ease of porting applications from Unix to MPE
(see my previous message on this subject). Hooks seamlessly onto a
multi-platform network. (as an example, it took me 5 minutes this morning to
download fresh printer configs from MPE using the bootp daemon. I'm still
waiting for news from the NT box here).

9000 :

Weakness : runs on Unix, which (out of portability/compatibility concerns)
cannot be as tuned as MPE. See, you've got 440- and 550-MHz 9000 A-classes,
that are killed in benchmarks by 140-MHz e3000 A-classes

Strength : Has been made pretty stable recently by HP. Has MC/serviceGuard,
has excellent hardware, has Fibre Channel (provides direct SAN attachment),
etc.
