Error when creating SLT

When attempting to create an SLT on an HP3000 running 5.5 I get the
following error: UNIT FAILURE (FSERR 30).  I can perform a full backup
via Roadrunner with no problem.  The drive is a DDS3.  Any ideas what
is going on?
