Being raised in Los Angeles, and now living in Ohio, I
had to chime in on this one.  Since we're making comparisons,
and I'm not saying one place is better than the other.  ALL
places have their positives and negatives...it's all relative.

BUT, if you're going to compare, you have to include the lethally
frigid winter weather of the "mid-west".  And these are yearly.
No warning needed, you can count on them like taxes and death.

So, to tally, we now have :

        no-warning earthquakes
                vs
low-warning tornados and lethally cold winters
