Yes, when we switched from a 927 to an A400 I used the setup with a transceiver and had a switch with a coax connection. Worked very well. Don't use DTCs anymore.

Subject: Re: [HP3000-L] DTC woes...

DTC Configurations for A & N-Class Servers

DTC connectivity to the HP e3000 A and N-Class servers has changed from the HP e3000 900 Series.

The e3000 900 Series can be connected to the DTC via a ThinLan (802.3)

(BNC) connection and cable.

The HP e3000 A and N-Class servers *do not* have a BNC coaxial 802.3 connector on the MFIO card and so must be connected to a DTC via the

internal RJ45 10/100 connector or a 10/100 network card. (NOTE: Core I/O

connection requires MPE/iX 7.0 Express 1.)

An Ethertwist Transceiver (28685B or equivalent) can be used to allow a DTC to have an RJ45 connector. Each DTC requires an Ethertwist Transceiver to allow RJ-45 connectivity.

Each DTC will be connected to a hub or switch on the network via a CAT-5,

RJ45 cable. One DTC can be connected directly to the A or N-Class Server using a crossover CAT-5 cable, available from third-party vendors.

Multiple DTC’s using Transceivers must be connected to a HUB along with the A or N-Class server using normal CAT-5, RJ45 cables.

Two other ways that multiple DTC’s can be connected to an HP e3000 A and N-Class are:

   - Connect the first DTC to a 10Base-T Hub which has a BNC coaxial 802.3

connector. Multiple DTC’s could be connected via the original ThinLan

cable using t-connectors and a terminator.

   - Connect all DTC’s to a 10/100 Hub using Ethertwist Transceivers on

   each DTC.
