Is there a fix to MANMAN & MPE/iX problems?

Some HP 3000 customers report that since they installed MPE/iX 5.0 push on
their systems, screen handling for MANMAN 9.0 and later has exhibited
problems. Extraneous carriage returns/line feeds are introduced into the
DTC stream over serial lines. The results can mean splattered screens and
scrambled displays while using the WingSpan enhancements to this version of
MANMAN.

WingSpan hasn't caused the problem, according to The Support Group CEO
Terry Floyd. "Nothing's changed in WingSpan," said Floyd, whose company
specializes in add-on support and enhancements for MANMAN customers on the
HP 3000. "This happened when people moved to MPE/iX 5.0."

Floyd said he believes there are several outstanding HP SRs that have been
filed with HP on the problem, to address what looks like a problem with DTC
communication and MANMAN 9.0.

In the process of assembling a story on this bug, and as a way of helping
get the word out about a fix or workaround, I'm looking for information on
the HP SRs as well as the error conditions which MANMAN customers are
experiencing. Please reply privately to [log in to unmask] if you have
filed an SR on this problem or have information about a fix.
