After at least 2-3 years of faithful service, my DAT3 drive failed.
I am in the middle of trying to work out with HP on fixing the problem.
It gives me the following when trying to store to the a tape:
STORE ENCOUNTERED MEDIA WRITE ERROR ON LDEV 7 (S/R 1454)
SPECIFICALLY, STORE RECEIVED ERROR -44 FROM THE IO SYSTEM (S/R 1557)
STORE IS MARKING MEDIA1 BAD ON LDEV 7
LDEV 7 REQUIRES CLEANING, PLEASE USE CLEANING CASSETTE
It happened on Friday just after I had cleaned it twice. The last time this
happened, they sent in a new drive and that worked. This time, they sent
in a new drive, and it does the same thing.
I was wondering if it was possible to switch ldev 7 to a different bay in the
5300 enclosure, since I'm not using them anyway...or if there is a more helpful
idea.
Here is the Ldev from sysgen:
io> ldev 7
LDEV: 7 DEVNAME: OUTDEV: 0 MODE: R
ID: HPC1537A RSIZE: 128 DEVTYPE: TAPE
PATH: 0/0/1/0.6.0 MPETYPE: 24 MPESUBTYPE: 7
CLASS: TAPE
Thanks!
