Bruce,

I was catching up on the HP3000-L digest and saw your posting; in part:
>>If this is true, Oracle must be an INCREDIBLE hog on other systems.
>>Our little phone billing application with a single client rating
>>calls as they are made consumes between 10% and 50% of the CPU on
>>a 918LX! Add another client producing billing reports and 50% to
>>70% of the CPU goes to Oracle.

This doesn't seem to square with the experience of many of our customers.
It's true that like many Native Mode applications Oracle runs best with plenty
of available memory. There may be other tuning and application design issues
with your site's implementation that are contributing to poor performance.
Why not call Oracle Support about this performance issue? Quite often we find
that tuning the queries, modifying some initialization parameters, or adding
an index can make a big difference in performance.

Thanks,
Scott
