Novell(formerly LWP) WINSOCK/WLIBSOCK comes in two flavours:
   - LWP4.12 (patch level? LWP168.exe)
   - LWP4.2 (patch level? LWP189.exe) - taken over by Novell

WINSOCK is NOT supported via ALLBASE and ODBC, either version.
(they say it will be in the future)

   WLIBSOCK v4.2 is NOT supported(ie doesn't work)
I have submitted an SR about this and there is a KPR that
specifically references PC Sockets Error 61.
     You must use v4.12.

We just bought a campus wide site license for LWP4.2 WInsock from
Novell but can't use it. Fortunately we were already using v4.12 and
 substituted the license downwards.

Try explaining the situation to Novell and see what happens.
Contact me personally if you have any other questions.
