Donna Garverick asked about configuring LP when there is no LP. When we
moved from the 948 to a 918, we did away with the HP-IB devices (like LP,
LDEV 6) and went to DTC and network printers. What we do is the following,
which works for us:

In SYSSTART:

STOPSPOOL 6
OPENQ LP

In MPE:

:SHOWDEV LP

LDEV AVAIL OWNERSHIP VOLID DEN ASSOCIATION

   6 SPOOLED
 114 SPOOLED SPOOLER OUT

In SYSGEN:

LDEV: 6 DEVNAME: OUTDEV: 0 MODE:
ID: HP2567B RSIZE: 66 DEVTYPE: LP
 PATH: 56/52.8.0 MPETYPE: 32 MPESUBTYPE: 9
CLASS: LP LP1

NOTE: As Wirt said, this doesn't really matter since we never use LDEV 6.
I had to add this in when we first started testing this machine as MPE
complains if there is no LP device. So I left this in just in case the
NMMGR-defined LP is ever removed.

Then, in NMMGR, we have a profile for a DTC printer defined with the LP
class.

Like I said, this works for use, although it may not be the most elegant
solution...
