Chuck-
The A & N class servers come with a built in 10/100 NIC. It isn't supported
yet (Express 1 should do that) so the machines I have been installing lately
come with a FREE PCI 10/100 NIC. My guess is that this free offer ends when
the mother board NIC gets supported. So act now, operators are standing by!
But I digress.
The 10/100 support is part of FOS on A & N class machines only. Folks with
older machines that add 10/100 card will still need to pay for software and
support.
It is real fun watching VPlus snap from screen to screen on an N class
machine.
7.0 (at this point) is a somewhat neutered version of 6.5. This should
change with 7.0 Express 1. But, when you go to 6.5 or above you have to
deal with that #@$ (your expletive here) STM. IMHO one of the worst MPE/iX
choices that HP has made lately.

Subject: [HP3000-L] MPE/iX 7.0 questions
I am in the process of ordering a 100base-tx nic for my 939ks and a comment
from someone caught my eye.
Does 7.0 include support for the 100base-tx nic, or is there still an
additional licensing/support cost for the driver?
I am currently on 6.0 and had no plans to move up as I saw nothing much to
benefit me in the new versions that justified the additonal overhead of
6.5/7.0. However, with 6.0 going off support next year, it might be worth my
time to move up to 7.0 now if the 100base-tx nic drivers are included.
Has anyone else here moved from 6.0 to 7.0, skipping 6.5?
Any stories, good or bad, to tell about the move?
