HP support claims it's crosstalk that knocks out the port. I've got three
of them in remote computing centers (each about 400 miles from me) and
they have to be manully disconnected and the dtc dowloaded to get the
port to become active again. HP support claims that making connectors
that omit unused pairs will clear up the problem. I've yet to see it work :(
