J-P,

1) is probably a security problem: is Samba allowed to write into /LOG/PUB ?
It's MPE-wise another account!

2) NMB is another service and provides netbios nameserver support to clients.
use nmbd --l log file to specify a log file.

3) use the name mangling and configure
"case sensitive = yes/no" controls whether filenames are case sensitive. If they
aren't then Samba must do a filename search and match on passed names . Default
 no.

Source: the Samba/iX documentation I got for 5.5 bundled by Lars Appel.
Another source of course is www.sambaix.com

Best regards, Andreas Schmidt, CSC, Germany

Subject: Questions about SAMBA

Hi everybody,

I have some questions about Samba.

First I'm running Mpeix Version 6.0 Express 1

1) I try do redirect the log
log file = /LOG/PUB/smb.log
but the log is allways in /SAMBA/PUB/var
which is the default location.

2) An other thing : there are two logs : smb and nmb. Only one is specified
in smb.conf. And I see nothing helpful in the poor documentation on
docs.hp.com
on this feature.

3) Copy a file via Samba
If I try to store something on the hp, it allways change
the case, everything will be store in lower case, and Java Developpers are
crying about this.

Thanks in advance for your answer.
