Subject: [HP3000-L] HP3000 access to local network

Some of my customers have done this using our ADBC Java API. They would
block read on a msg file from a java program running some where on the
network, on any platform (Linux, Windows, HP-UX...) that supports Java and
using a few lines of ADBC code, would control the read/write to the file
based on data being passed via the msg file from the HP3000. A program on
the HP3000 using any programming language COBOL, Fortran, Pascal.., could
simply pass commands & data to the java program by writing to the msg file.

One custom that comes to mind, used it to print finished good barcode labels
from the HP 3000 to a PC network based labeling system (Loftware) that was
expecting files to be dropped into a networked directory. It worked like a
charm. We also have many more examples of using this approach.
