to throw in my $.02 (and make y'all suffer to listening to my opinion again :-)
if the product line is going to continue to ride this renissance wave and
actually turn it into genuine sale momentum -- then yes, you (hp) have to
be prepared to defend the 3000 as *an equal player* in a sea of other
servers!  we(3000)'ve made such wonderful strides and we still have a long
ways to go but we are competitive when being compared to the as/400's,
aix's and hp-ux's of the world.  if benchmarks are going to turn somebody's
head, then by all means take the time, spend the money and prove to the
rest of the world what we've known for a long time.

it would be interesting to see (my heavens, am i actually suggesting doing
a survey? :-) how many of us listers are working in a mixed-os environment.
i know i am -- so that's one.  any other voters?         - d
