I getting a funny DNS name when running a tracert to a IP address.
On my computer I put the IP address to DNS address resolution in the
host file on my local computer. If I do a tracrt to the DNS address
everything works fine. I'm within our internal network.
When I'm having the problem is when I go off site and try to do a
tracert to the same DNS address. I put the same informaion into the
host file on the off site computer as I put into my computer. When I
do the tracert to to the DNS address as I did on my local computer I
get a "unknow host" error. Then I do a tracert to the IP address I
get the the route back but thy DNS name now has a "\par" on the end of
it now.( <servername>\par )
Can someone get me more information on why this would be happening?
I'm I getting the "\par" because the server is behind a firewall now?
Or I'm I doing something wrong? Thanks
