hi all~
i've got a configuration problem that i can't solve.  i've got
a little 927 (5.5 pp2) that i'm treating like a server - no
dtc, everything (except the console) is making a network connection.
the following is part of 'showvar hp@' i did after making a 'direct'
vt connection (no dsline...):
HPSTDIN_ACCESS_TYPE = NS/VT
HPSTDIN_TERMINAL_TYPE = 0 (T_DATA_ENTRY(4))
HPSTDIN_TRANSPORT_TYPE = TCP/IP
HPSTDIN_NETWORK_NODE = W083623.DOMAIN.ORG
HPSTDIN_NETWORK_ADDR = 10.24.164.137
HPSTDIN_LINK_ADDR = not set yet...
HPVT_CLIENT_VENDOR = WRQ_CONNECTION_3000_FOR_WINDOWS
HPVT_CLIENT_OPSYS = MS_DOS
HPVT_CLIENT_MODE = STREAM_MODE
HPVT_CLIENT_TCP_PORT = 1083
HPVT_CLIENT_LDEV_NUM =
HPVT_CLIENT_JOB_NUM =
HPVT_CLIENT_JOB_NAME =
notice - the terminal type and the last 3 '_client' values. when
logged on in this way (which is my normal way of connecting), i
can't run any block-mode programs. in nmmgr, i have nmconfig
setup with the following:
x.25 system-to-sytem or pad connections? y
number of non-nailed pad terminals = 0
starting ldev number = 0
non-nailed pad terminal profile = tr10d96 (unmodified)
...and reflection is set for 'hp70092'

now, if i dsline to the machine, 'showvar hp@' looks like:
HPSTDIN_ACCESS_TYPE = NS/VT
HPSTDIN_TERMINAL_TYPE = 10 (T_BLOCK(3))
HPSTDIN_TRANSPORT_TYPE = TCP/IP
HPSTDIN_NETWORK_NODE = IXD.LONGS.COM
HPSTDIN_NETWORK_ADDR = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx <- deleted :-)
HPSTDIN_LINK_ADDR = not set yet...
HPVT_CLIENT_VENDOR = HEWLETT_PACKARD
HPVT_CLIENT_OPSYS = MPE_IX C.50.00 - SERIES 995-300
HPVT_CLIENT_MODE = MESSAGE_MODE
HPVT_CLIENT_TCP_PORT = 38973
HPVT_CLIENT_LDEV_NUM = 976
HPVT_CLIENT_JOB_NUM = #S2251
HPVT_CLIENT_JOB_NAME = DONNA,MANAGER.SYS
...and i can run block-mode. there's obviously something not
set right. any ideas? - d
