I sent a message to HP and here is how they responded.

With respect to the Garage Program, it is currently
focused at new internet startups. For example, part of the program
includes connecting startups to the right hosting provider, and
offering special finance options. This is primarily a UNIX and
NT initiative, because the HP e3000 is targeting the internet
companies from a different angle. The HP e3000 is working directly
with our ISVs to take their application to new markets such as
e-commerce. The HP e3000 has a strong e-tailing partner, Smith Gardner,
who can provide a complete turn-key solution to our customers.
In fact, Giga Information Group, listed Smith Gardner as one of
the top B2C Order Management vendors and Ironside Technologies
as one of the top B2B Order Management vendors, and both are running
on the HP e3000. The internet market is large enough for a number of
players
and HP is carefully trying to position its various operating systems
to capture the maximum piece of the market in the most efficient
manner possible.

We will continue to monitor the progress of the Garage Program.
If it becomes appropriate to include the HP e3000 as the program
evolves, it will definitely be included.

I just don't understand!

Subject: HP Garage Program

The following came from HP's website concerning the HP Garage Program.
Why isn't the HPe3000/MPE/iX mentioned? It has these capabilities and
more!! Notice that reliability for mission critical applications is not
mentioned. I guess that's why. Yet another example of ignoring the best
platform.

Building with HP means quicker time-to-market while preparing for
massive
growth. The HP Garage Program provides a Java(tm) Development environment
on Windows NT(r), Linux, or HP-UX1 with quick migration to HP-UX for the
components that require a secure, 24×7 environment. Internet-ready
servers
come loaded with Web servers, e-speak, WebQoS, Java, security, and
ServiceControl management software.
