Hi Eric,

passwords are the MPE one's and so in the System's Table.

An example for a password protected share, out of /SAMBA/PUB/lib/smb.conf:

[HPInstant_update]
 comment=HP Instant Information MPE/iX update
 guest ok=no
 write ok=yes
 user=MANAGER.SYS
 path=/SAMBA/PUB/instant

Hope that will help (beside the other info you may find in www.sambaix.com),
best regards, Andreas Schmidt

P.S. The complete article where I cut the example above can be found in
www.hillschmidt.de/gbr/articles.htm

Subject:  Samba Security setup

Hi @,

I have installed Samba on our testsystem and want to setup some security.
How do I setup a folder which is only accessible by using the logon/password
screen at the PC?
Where do the passwords reside?

Kind regards,
