Thanks to the comment Wirt, but I forgot to mention that the HP3000
apparently only "talks" PCL_ to a JetDirect card. It does not work with
a "generic" EPSON dot matrix. I do not have LPR/LPD support on my 3000.
:-(

We tested the EPSON with one of the new Token Ring JetDirect cards which
is operational on a LaserJet printer and only prints garbage. The same
printer has a serial port connected to a DTC at my other site and works
great.

Juts to let our readers know, without LPR/LPD, the new 3 port Token Ring
JetDirect card allows only one connection from the HP3000 on port 1.
Ports 2 and 3 will work with a 3000 only if LPR/LPD is available.

Sorry for not sharing how far we've gone from the start.

Rodolfo

The HP print server solution looks much easier and cheaper than I
originally
stated. I recommended the JetDirect EX Plus Print Server. Unfortunately,
that
model of print server only works with Ethernet. But that's not true of
the
newer JetDirect EX Plus3 print servers. One of the available models in
this
series is Token Ring compatible -- and thus should make Rodolfo's
solution
relatively simple and quite inexpensive (and he could have up to 3
parallel
printers running off of the same small print server box). The better URL
for
the same (but newer) product line is:

http://hpcc920.external.hp.com/rnd/products/jetdir/jdexpls3/jdexpls3.htm

My apologies having to repost this corrected information.
