Hi HP3000-L,
I am pleased to announce that 6.5/7.0/7.5 beta patches are now available for HP WebWise MPE/iX Secure Web Server version A.04.00 based on Apache 1.3.29 and OpenSSL 0.9.7d:
6.5 - WBWHD89A
7.0 - WBWHD81A
7.5 - WBWHD82A
WebWise A.04.00 standardizes the FOS web server version across all currently supported releases of MPE, and I recommend that anybody running older versions of Apache or WebWise should upgrade to WebWise A.04.00 for maximum reliability.
WebWise was previously only available on 6.5 as an extra-cost add-on product. This new FOS WebWise A.04.00 replaces both Apache and WebWise A.01.00 on 6.5. For 7.0 and 7.5 it replaces FOS WebWise A.03.00.
The difference between WebWise A.03.00 and A.04.00 is primarily bug fixes (including a number of security issues that were only annoyances for MPE). But in accordance with the #5 technical vote getter in the 2004 SIB, all of the source code, tools, and documentation used to build the product have also been included (with the exception of gcc). If you don't have any interest in the added material, you can simply purge it with a single :PURGEDIR command.
Please contact the HPRC if you are interested in obtaining these beta patches. The more customers who volunteer, the sooner this will all go GR.
For more information about WebWise including important configuration file migration details, please see http://jazz.external.hp.com/src/webwise/.
