Well, I did just that -- came up with my own indexing file system using
KSAMXL files. Seems to work just fine inside my CD Inventory app -- it will
find any string(s) of data regardless of whether the text starts at
position 1 or position "n" in the string.
I think my next task will be to come up with a generic indexing system
just like Omnidex....
So remind me again why I should give DISC the ten grand they wanted for
Omnidex?
While I'm on the subject -- some time ago I had asked the Vesoft folks how
much for Security/3000. I laughed when they told me. I decided to write my
own security system that would give me basically the same thing (logon
security, console security, modem(s) security, audit trails etc etc). Took
me quite a while to do it but I did it. I now have my own security system
and didn't have to hand over a ton of dead Washington's for it either.
Some might say I have way too much time on my hands. Guess I do....
Anybody wanna hire me?
Brian.
