I recently asked for help with network issues I was having for the
configuration of systems and DTCs and switching the DTC from system to
system.

We do not use DTC Manager/Openview, and I did not want the possibility
of the DTC changing systems during an unplanned reboot.

We have now set up the Testing/DRP system with two configs - one with
and one without the DTC configs (actually the one config with the DTCs
deleted from one) and a simple batch job to switch the configs.

While testing this setup during the last weekend we found something a
bit unexpected - the config (although previously validated) needs to
be validated after its copy to NMCONFIG. The necessary commands to
validate the config (NMMGR MAINT commands) were added to my config
switcher batch job and tested with no errors.

Naturally, for all this to work the production system needs to not
respond to the DTC Multicast for config (is there another way of doing
this other than shutting down the system?) but this is seen as trivial
or accepted in the context of testing a DRP anyway.

Many thanks to the many people who have helped me with this project
and projects in the past, as this will (besides the Security/3000
setup between the systems and documentation) probably be the last real
project I am involved with on the HP/3000 as I'm moving on to a LAN
Support role (for a while at least anyway).
