It is official. We have signed a contract with a software company to
install their system. Unfortunately, it runs on a HP9000. :-( I do
remember someone saying the 3000 was an ant-iquated system)

Now that the initial shock has worn off and I am done crying in my beer,
I began compiling the list of tasks for this implementation. We will be
connecting the 9000 into our existing network and transferring data over
for testing purposes during the first phase.

Some questions that I have scribbled during this initial phase include,

1) What are the best books to read on HP-UX?
2) Can we use existing DTC's that are connected to the HP3000 on the
HP9000. Can these be shared?
3) Can printers, connected to the HP3000 serially, be shared with the
HP9000?
4) How easily can we transfer data between the 3000 and 9000?
5) What lists exist for the 9000?
6) Does STM come with HP-UX 11.0 or is it a purchased product? Is it
required?

I am sure many others have gone through a similar transaction and was
hoping to gain some insight on what to look for, what to expect (aside
from running away screaming), and what to pray for.

These and many more I am sure will follow. By the way, is there an ant
trap option for this box?? (gotta keep my sense of humor!)

Many thanks in advance.
