In the past few weeks I have had occasion to communicate from California
(Bay Area) to England and vice versa over the Internet. From about 8:00
a.m. until some time in the afternoon, Pacific Time, as far as I am
concerned, the Internet has collapsed. A 10cps teletype with a noisy
connection would be faster with fewer disconnects!

Did anyone read about the recent study that found that 90% of the traffic
on the Net was due to Cisco routers looking for connections! My source was
the EE Times, but I've thrown away that copy.
