Kent,

You cannot install SQL Server 2000 Standard on a non-server OS (like
XP).  We received with our license a disc for SQL Server 2000 Personal
Edition, which is pretty much the same thing as Standard, except it's
for desktops.  Be sure the check your licensing, but I believe that if
you have a Windows desktop licensed with a SQL Server CAL you can
install Personal Edition on it.

SQL SERVER 2000 was design before XP what is the trick to install it on
XP.
