When I read that...I had to reach into my desk drawer and take another
aspirin just to help reduce the angina from the emotional stress from seeing
that WORD!!!!!

Be careful, Never say that you IPL'ed an HP3000. That is a dead giveaway
that your from an IBM shop. :-)

We had the "luxury" of a second machine, since we were upgrading from a 947
to a 949 for the Year 2000 effort.

It gave us the opportunity to do a disaster recovery test.

The first thing that comes to mind is that we did have some problems with
the applications calling COBOL subroutines from Native Mode TRANSACT--the
alignment was off for some reason.

The other thing I distinctly remember is that when all the updating and post
processing was finished from the UPDATE, the communications wouldn't come
up. As it turns out, another IPL is required to get everything set right, so
if you get a communications failure first time through, don't panic.

By the way, the http://www.umpublishing.org web site looks great! Are there
any touch points to the HP e3000?
