Very difficult. Only one of them is written in VB that I know of
(QCTerm) and I suspect that MobileVB would not support all the things
it
needs and certainly not the 3rd party plug-in modules that it probably
uses for network I/O. Most PC applications like this will likely be
way
to big to fit even in the memory available on an OS5 based Palm
device.

My Sony Clie came with 32Mb, and then I bought a 128Mb mem stick, and
it runs Palm Os.

While you might eventually find an HP-compatible Palm termulator, you
still have the tiny screen problem which will dramatically limit your
ability to access existing applications. Instead I would recommend
using one of the Palm terminal emulators that exist today which are
typically VT100 based, and write your user interface program on the
3000
to emit VT100 escape sequences to control the screen and also keep the
screen data in the portion of the screen that's visible on the palm.
This shouldn't really be too difficult to write.

Also my Sony Clie has a much bigger screen than my old Palm Pilot, and
great color, with complete multimedia capabilities. That's why I would
prefer something like QCTerm on the PDA, so I could develop GUI/Telnet
applications that fit in the Palm of your hand.

In addition to several terminal programs (some free) there's also a
VPN
client for the palm that will let you establish a secure PPTP
connection
to run your terminal connection over (Mergic VPN I believe).

I have all this on my Treo 300 with SprintPCS that includes unlimited
internet (IP) access for an extra $10/month, and I can get a secure
VPN
connection to our network and log into our machines (though with a
painfully tiny screen) from anywhere on the nationwide Sprint network.
I haven't used it for much, but it's a nice capability to have.
