Semi-related long story.
I doubt that Jim's problem is similar.
I picked up a couple 9gig drives from a local "old stuff"
computer store. They are IBM DHCS drives. Initially, MPE
didn't recognize them. Neither did my Win2K machine.
I mean that mapper or Win2k could see them. But when attempting
to partition or format, it would not.
Luckily I have an old HPUX box (G40) (which is what I really
wanted to increase disk space to). HPUX didn't like them either
but I could get some status from it (now I can't remember what
command -- some scsi info program). It said the drive was
formatted in 520 byte sectors, not 512.
My son found a program for his Linux box that did reformat
this drive to 512 sectors. (I couldn't seem to do it with
the programs I had on HPUX.; since then I recompiled the
program on HPUX and can reformat from it.)
Currently I have both drives on a test MPE 6.0 box
(via an Install) and seems to be working ok.
